Story
Get to Know Us
Western Goanna Group is a company that was born out of a desire to honour the memory and legacy of Dharug elder Zella Farraway. Zella was a member of the stolen generation, a group of Indigenous Australians who were forcibly taken from their families as children and placed in institutions or with white families. Despite the hardships she faced, Zella embodied the resilience and harmony that the goanna totem represents.
The goanna is a powerful symbol in many Indigenous cultures, and it is often associated with wisdom, strength, and protection. In some traditions, the goanna is said to have the ability to heal and purify, while in others it is seen as a messenger or guide. For Zella, the goanna was a totem that represented her connection to her culture and her people, and she passed this legacy on to her descendants.
Western Goanna Group is committed to upholding the values and principles that Zella held dear. This includes a deep respect for the land and the environment, as well as a commitment to creating opportunities for young people to succeed. Through education, training, and mentorship, the company aims to inspire the next generation of leaders and to build a stronger, more equitable society.
In addition to its commitment to youth empowerment, Western Goanna Group is also focused on providing high-quality construction and commercial cleaning services to its clients. The company's team of skilled professionals is dedicated to delivering projects on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Overall, Western Goanna Group is a company that is built on a foundation of respect, integrity, and community. Through its work, the company seeks to honour the legacy of Zella Farraway and to create a brighter future for all Indigenous Australians.
